Senior Hydraulic Designer - Building Services

About the role

A growing Design Engineering Consultancy with 25+ years of experience and 100+ staff is looking for an experienced Hydraulic Services Designer to join its expanding team in Brisbane and/or Gold Coast. The company wants to expand its Hydraulic Services capability and offers a clear path to leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Meet stakeholders and clients early in a project and give early space planning advice and concept design
• Produce detailed, cost-effective designs and detailed design and documentation for potable cold water, recycled stormwater, sewer, grease and trade waste drainage, backwater and greywater treatment, stormwater detention, sub-soil drainage, plumbing, hot and cold water generation, gas systems, fire hose reels and fire hydrants
• Consult across all phases of project delivery, from inception to completion
• Conceptualise systems, agree designs with the Building Services Leader, liaise with clients and oversee the drafting of designs
• Write correspondence to authorities, draft technical specifications and attend stakeholder meetings

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of site experience as a qualified plumber, preferably with some experience as a plumbing supervisor
• Associate or Diploma in Plumbing Services from TAFE NSW
• Minimum 6 years of experience in a locally based design office
• Sound knowledge of the Building Code of Australia, Australian and NZ standards and local codes and guidelines
• Excellent oral and written communication, able to work independently and collaboratively within a consulting team
• Self-motivated and with a passion for hydraulic services

Required skills

• Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Project
• High proficiency in Excel spreadsheets
