About the role
The Department of Youth Justice and Victim Support is seeking a Senior HR Business Partner to work closely with senior leaders. You will design and deliver HR strategies that align with business priorities while ensuring compliance with legislation and departmental policies.
Key responsibilities
- Partner with leaders to develop and implement innovative HR strategies that support business needs and departmental priorities.
- Provide expert advice on employee relations, performance management, recruitment, organisational change and workforce planning.
- Use workforce data and analytics to identify trends, address challenges and inform strategic decision‑making.
- Deliver training and coaching to enhance HR capability and support effective people‑management practices.
- Promote an inclusive, culturally capable workplace in line with the Human Rights Act 2019 and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural connections.
- Prepare high‑quality correspondence, executive briefs and submissions on significant HR issues.
- Represent the department at meetings, conferences and tribunals, including the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission.
- Collaborate with the broader HR team to drive continuous improvement and best‑practice service delivery.
Required profile
- Extensive experience as an HR Business Partner or in a senior HR advisory role.
- Strong knowledge of Queensland public‑sector HR legislation, enterprise agreements, modern awards and policies.
- Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with senior leaders and influence outcomes.
- Proven track record of using data to shape HR strategy and solve complex workforce issues.
- Commitment to diversity, inclusion and cultural capability.
