Senior Flood Engineer

About the role

Aurecon is looking for a Senior Flood Engineer to join its Water, Environment and Land team in Sydney (or Newcastle). The role focuses on delivering flood assessments for major transport, water, energy and infrastructure projects across NSW and the ACT.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct hydrological and hydraulic investigations and design for a wide range of projects.
• Develop and deliver flood modelling using TUFLOW, RORB, WBNM and XP‑RAFTS.
• Collaborate with transport, drainage, land development, dam and energy teams to integrate flood solutions.
• Engage with clients and public authorities to address technical queries and provide optimal engineering outcomes.
• Ensure modelling tasks are completed on time, within budget and to high quality standards.
• Contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement within the flood specialist team.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in civil or environmental engineering.
• 10+ years of experience in the flood engineering industry.
• Strong understanding of Australian Rainfall and Runoff (ARR) 2019.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively across internal and external stakeholders.
• Interest in technological advances within flood modelling.
