Senior Financial Accountant

About the role

Join the National Shared Services Finance team as a Senior Financial Accountant at our Arundel Head Office on the Gold Coast. The role is primarily finance‑focused (about 80%) with an initial 20% focus on AI and automation, expanding as you streamline processes.

Key responsibilities

• Own weekly cash‑flow forecasts, treasury, intercompany funding and bank covenant reporting.
• Manage month‑end close controls, journal completeness checks and P&L variance reviews.
• Issue national, state and branch P&Ls and sign off bank reconciliations.
• Prepare FBT, income tax provisions, Payment Times Reporting and TPAR.
• Manage payroll tax, WorkCover allocations and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Support the Financial Controller with year‑end audit requirements and financial statements.
• Provide backup for NetSuite administration and lead the AP Accountant and offshore AP team.
• Identify, design and build AI‑driven automations that add lasting value.
• Redesign processes rather than merely speeding up existing work with AI.
• Review and correct AI‑generated outputs using accounting judgement and share solutions with the finance team.

Required profile

• CA, CPA or equivalent qualification.
• 5+ years of financial accounting experience in a commercial or multi‑entity group.
• Strong knowledge of Australian tax and compliance (GST, FBT, payroll tax, income tax effect accounting).
• Proven experience owning month‑end close, treasury and cash‑flow forecasting.
• Extensive ERP experience, preferably NetSuite.
• Daily use of AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude or Copilot.
• Experience leading or mentoring AP or transactional finance staff, including offshore teams.
