About the role
The Senior Finance Officer will support the Financial Services Branch – Corporate Services in delivering high‑quality financial operations for the department. Working within a dynamic, team‑based environment, you will ensure accurate reporting, compliance and continuous improvement of financial processes.
Key responsibilities
- Produce monthly reconciliations, prepare journals, financial reports and statements.
- Assist the Principal Financial Accountant with audit workpapers and resolve reporting issues to meet legislative and Australian Accounting Standards requirements.
- Provide guidance on departmental policies, guidelines and the SAP financial system.
- Develop work schedules to ensure timely delivery of key financial deliverables.
- Conduct financial analysis and interpretation to support decision‑making and problem‑solving.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to share financial information and advice.
- Lead continuous‑improvement initiatives to enhance work practices and customer service.
Required profile
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team delivering financial support aligned with strategic objectives.
- Proven experience preparing, reviewing and submitting financial reports, reconciliations, journals and audit workpapers.
- Strong decision‑making, relationship‑building and accountability skills.
Required skills
- Proficiency with SAP financial system.
- Knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, government policies and relevant legislation.
