Senior Engineer System Safety

About the role

Airbus Australia Pacific is seeking a Senior Engineer System Safety to act as a key technical authority and airworthiness champion within the Aviation Product Safety team. Reporting to the Aviation Product Safety Team Lead, you will evaluate safety risks, navigate regulatory frameworks, and drive a proactive safety culture across aerospace platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Execute Aviation Product Safety processes, including formal safety reports to the Commonwealth of Australia, maintaining the Continued Airworthiness Hazard Log, and updating platform procedures.
• Perform Preliminary System Safety Assessments (PSSA) and System Safety Assessments (SSA) for type‑certification modifications and provide hazard analysis input to engineering designs.
• Provide System Safety expertise to internal and external stakeholders, supporting Engineering and CAM Services.
• Develop Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA) within delegated Engineering Authority limits and maintain accurate engineering records.
• Lead safety initiatives, deliver regulatory oversight, and chair the In‑Service System Safety Working Group representing Airbus in executive safety forums.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Engineering in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Avionics, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Software or related discipline.
• 5+ years of engineering experience in aviation or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of Australian aviation legislation and regulations (e.g., DASR, CAANZ, CASA).
• Ability to attain RPEQ registration and DE1 level of Engineering Authority within the MDO.
• Visible leadership, safety‑first mindset, and ability to work autonomously under high‑pressure priorities.
