Senior Engineer – Design Practitioner (NSW)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Engineer to join our dynamic Product Team in Mascot, NSW, and become a Design Practitioner. The role involves leading the preparation and verification of regulated designs and issuing Design Compliance Declarations under the NSW Design and Building Practitioners Act.

Key responsibilities

• Work closely with building practitioners, Principal Design Practitioners, and Certifiers to ensure construction activities align with approved designs and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare and verify regulated designs and issue Design Compliance Declarations (DCDs) under the NSW Design and Building Practitioners Act.
• Support the sales and operations teams and collaborate with regional and global stakeholders to drive continuous improvement.
• Manage design variations, maintain documentation for Building Commission NSW compliance and audit obligations.
• Ensure lift, escalator and moving walkway systems are fully integrated within regulated buildings and comply with the Building Code of Australia.
• Provide subject‑matter expertise and technical support to the CSE team on building codes, standards and compliance requirements.

Required profile

• Registered Design Practitioner (VT) in NSW is desirable, or in the process of obtaining registration.
• Minimum 5 years of vertical transport engineering experience within the last 10 years, including at least 2 years in Australia.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics or Electrical Engineering.
• Effective communication skills with confidence and clarity.
• Ability to read technical drawings and translate customer needs into technical specifications.
• Proven ability to work autonomously and collaboratively while managing time and priorities.

Required skills

• Knowledge of the NSW Design and Building Practitioners Act and Building Code of Australia.
• Experience preparing regulated designs and issuing Design Compliance Declarations.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings.
