Senior Engineer - Bridges, Ports and Structures

About the role

AECOM is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead the design and analysis of bridge, port and maritime structures in Adelaide. You will work on large‑scale infrastructure projects, ensuring technical excellence and compliance with Australian standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design and analyse bridge structures from preliminary concepts through detailed engineering and construction documentation using industry‑standard software.
• Develop structural solutions for ports, wharves, breakwaters and other marine facilities, integrating hydraulic modelling where required.
• Prepare comprehensive engineering reports, calculations and technical specifications for stakeholders and regulatory authorities.
• Collaborate with project managers, multidisciplinary engineers and external stakeholders to integrate structural requirements into overall project delivery.
• Manage project timelines, budgets and resources while maintaining quality, safety and compliance with Australian Standards and environmental regulations.
• Conduct site inspections and assessments to evaluate existing structures and identify design constraints.

Required profile

• Qualified structural engineer with a professional engineering licence or eligibility for registration with Engineers Australia.
• Proven experience in bridge design and/or port infrastructure projects within the Australian market.
• Strong knowledge of Australian building codes, standards and regulatory requirements for structural design.
• Experience working on large‑scale infrastructure projects and ability to manage complex technical deliverables.

Required skills

• Proficiency with structural analysis and design software.
• Knowledge of hydraulic modelling and marine environmental considerations.
• In‑depth understanding of bridge engineering principles, load analysis and material selection.
