Senior Employment Officer - Broome

About the role

Job Pathways is looking for a Senior Employment Officer in Broome, Western Australia, to work directly with job seekers and help them build the skills and confidence needed for long-term employment. The role supports career pathway development, goal setting and coaching within a strengths-based, culturally responsive framework.

Key responsibilities

• Engage job seekers through strengths-based assessments and support plans tailored to their employment goals
• Coach job seekers throughout their journey, including after they start work, to help them overcome challenges
• Maintain accurate records, guide job seekers in meeting reporting requirements and keep tools and practices current
• Help job seekers find skilling and development opportunities aligned with their career goals
• Ensure services meet contractual obligations and internal policies, and report to management
• Build respectful, culturally safe relationships with Aboriginal clients, families and communities

Required profile

• Experience working with Indigenous Australians and rural/remote communities
• Understanding of the barriers faced by disadvantaged job seekers
• Ability to match employment options with labour market needs
• Current C Class driver's licence (essential)
• Current National Police Certificate (or willingness to obtain one)
• WA Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain one)

Required skills

• Certificate IV in Employment Services (highly regarded, or willingness to obtain it)
• Experience supporting people with diverse and complex needs such as disability, mental health or homelessness (highly regarded)
