Job description

About the role

Analog Devices is hiring a Senior Embedded Software Engineer for its Battery Insights team. You will lead the design and delivery of embedded software for advanced battery monitoring and insight solutions, working across firmware, hardware, systems, verification and application teams. The role calls for strong technical judgment, independent problem solving and the ability to guide other engineers while contributing to architecture and roadmap decisions.

Key responsibilities

  • Design, implement, integrate and maintain complex embedded software for battery monitoring and insight products
  • Lead the technical delivery of significant features and contribute to software architecture and design decisions
  • Develop and optimise real-time software, device drivers, hardware abstraction layers and platform services
  • Analyse and improve software performance, reliability, memory use, power consumption and startup behaviour
  • Debug complex system issues using structured debugging, root-cause analysis and data-driven methods
  • Translate product and customer requirements into software requirements, designs, implementation plans and testable outcomes
  • Review designs and code, mentor less-experienced engineers and promote strong engineering practices
  • Contribute to automated build, test, release and CI/CD workflows, and support technical planning, estimation, risk identification and roadmap development

Required profile

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related discipline
  • 0-4 years of embedded software or firmware development experience
  • Ability to work independently on complex technical problems and communicate decisions clearly across disciplines
  • Understanding of software quality, maintainability, testing and lifecycle practices
  • Awareness of open-source, proprietary and hybrid software licensing models

Required skills

  • Strong C and C++ programming, including debugging and optimisation in resource-constrained systems
  • Real-time operating systems, concurrency, interrupts, synchronization and timing-sensitive design
  • Low-level software or device drivers for common embedded interfaces and peripherals
  • Embedded processors or microcontrollers, including board bring-up and hardware/software integration
  • Source control, code review, automated builds and CI/CD
  • Preferred: embedded Linux or Linux kernel, ARM platforms, telemetry, diagnostics, data acquisition, cloud-connected edge devices, Python for test automation, cybersecurity or functional safety knowledge

The role involves travel about 10% of the time and is a day shift. Export licensing review may be required for applicants who are not US citizens or permanent residents.
