Senior Electrical Engineer - Mining Projects

About the role

A well-established engineering team supporting multiple mining, metals and mineral processing projects in Adelaide is looking for an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer or Principal Electrical Engineer. The role suits someone with strong brownfield project experience in copper, base metals, mineral processing, heavy industry or resources, covering the full project lifecycle from scoping and concept design through detailed design, construction support and commissioning. The contract is 12 months with an ASAP start.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver electrical engineering solutions across concept, design, execution and commissioning phases.
• Prepare and review engineering calculations, drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
• Develop electrical designs that consider safety, operability, maintainability and lifecycle requirements.
• Lead or support scope development, estimates, schedules and resource planning.
• Take part in HAZIDs, HAZOPs, Safety-in-Design and design reviews.
• Support site inspections, field engineering, construction and commissioning.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, project managers and multidisciplinary teams, and manage multiple projects on schedule, budget and quality.
• Principal engineers also lead discipline deliverables, act as the main client interface, manage technical risk and quality, and mentor others.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• At least 10 years' experience in mining, minerals, metals, energy or heavy industry.
• Strong brownfield project experience and proven ability to manage several projects at once.
• Excellent understanding of Australian electrical standards.
• Unrestricted Australian working rights and availability to start ASAP.

Required skills

• HV/LV power distribution, HV switchgear and MCC design, equipment sizing and cable routing.
• Earthing and lighting design, arc flash assessments, protection systems and relay settings.
• Instrumentation and control interfaces, SLDs, schematics, layouts and cable schedules.
• FATs, SATs, commissioning support, shutdown planning and cost estimating.
