Senior ECC Vet Nurse

About the role

The Animal Referral Hospital in Homebush seeks an experienced Critical Care/ICU nurse or VTS to join a close‑knit team dedicated to optimal patient outcomes in a 24‑hour emergency and specialist veterinary setting.

Key responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to critically ill and injured patients in the dedicated Critical Care Unit.
• Monitor patients on mechanical ventilation, high‑flow oxygen therapy, and TIVA; administer medications and blood products.
• Assist with medical and surgical procedures, including IV catheter, central line, arterial line, and PICC line placement.
• Perform blood collection, diagnostic imaging, and lead CPR according to RECOVER guidelines.
• Maintain accurate medical records, ensure protocol compliance, and communicate with clients during stressful situations.
• Support protocol development, train emergency nurses, and mentor trainee nurses.

Required profile

• Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing or equivalent with at least 5 years nursing experience.
• VTS in ECC preferred but not essential.
• Previous experience in an emergency and specialty hospital.
• Strong attention to detail, ability to multitask and prioritize in busy conditions.
• Team‑player attitude with excellent written and oral communication skills.
