Senior Drafter – Roads & Highways

About the role

SMEC is seeking a Senior Drafter to join its Perth team and support the delivery of large‑scale road and highway projects. In this senior technical position you will produce high‑quality design documentation, act as a trusted specialist within the drafting function, and mentor junior staff.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review detailed drafting deliverables for complex transport infrastructure projects.
• Ensure consistency, accuracy and efficiency across all design documentation.
• Drive best‑practice drafting standards and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Provide technical guidance, oversight and mentorship to junior drafters.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to resolve design issues.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of professional drafting experience, primarily on road and highway projects.
• Proven experience within an engineering design consultancy.
• Demonstrated passion for technical excellence and leadership.
