Senior Digital Producer

About the role

A Perth-based team of The Nightly, a fast-growing national news brand, is looking for a Senior Digital Producer. You will support the Online Editor and guide the content direction of the site in the afternoons and evenings, helping shape its daily news flow. The role suits someone who loves breaking news, has strong writing skills and thrives under pressure.

Key responsibilities

• Source, write and publish original stories for the website
• Use social media for story discovery and promotion
• Produce engaging video content for digital platforms
• Apply news judgment and use analytical tools to maximise story visibility
• Write and edit content, including headlines, captions and embedded media
• Support the Online Editor in guiding daily content direction
• Maintain awareness of legal and ethical issues in reporting
• Represent the company professionally and courteously, conduct thorough interviews and work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
• Stay up to date with technology and digital trends

Required profile

• Journalism degree and at least six years' experience in the media industry
• Strong work ethic, initiative and a high level of literacy and attention to detail
• Excellent interview and communication skills
• Ability to work autonomously under high pressure
• Flexibility for a seven-day newsroom, including weekend shifts and late hours
