Senior Designer - Branding, Motion & Storyboard

About the role

Apparent, an independent creative agency based in Sydney, is hiring a Senior Designer. The role pushes and evolves client brand guidelines across branding projects, social, event design and motion graphics, working hands-on from storyboards and style frames to hype videos, launch campaigns, digital experiences and campaign visuals.

Key responsibilities

• Lead projects and mentor junior and mid-weight team members.
• Develop strong visual concepts and articulate the strategic rationale behind design choices.
• Create sub-brand identities, guidelines, design systems and design documentation.
• Collaborate with writers, animators, UX designers and strategists, and with the wider creative, production, strategy and account service teams.
• Direct specialist creatives such as motion designers, animators, 3D artists and illustrators.

Required profile

• 5+ years of design experience in a creative agency or design studio, with a relevant tertiary degree and a portfolio focused on storyboarding and motion concepts.
• Experience managing or mentoring designers.
• Strong graphic, brand and UI design fundamentals, typography and layout skills, and deep branding fundamentals.
• Natural storytelling instincts and strong written and verbal communication.

Required skills

• Expert knowledge of Figma and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop).
• Fundamental understanding of motion graphics pipelines; preparing assets for After Effects is essential.
• Bonus: experimentation with node-based AI workflows such as Figma Weave or ComfyUI.
