Senior Data Analyst – Forecasting & Azure

About the role

The Senior Data Analyst will design and maintain forecasting models on an Azure data platform to predict future workloads for Queensland Courts and Tribunals. The role combines advanced time‑series modelling with clear communication of insights to multiple stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deploy time‑series forecasting models using contemporary machine learning techniques on Azure.
• Create self‑service Power BI dashboards that present forecast results for different jurisdictions and stakeholder groups.
• Integrate forecast scenarios into existing reporting tools to assess workload impacts.
• Prepare statistical reports, presentations, and executive briefs that convey modelling outcomes.
• Support the Principal Forecasting Officer in maintaining and communicating forecasted metrics across the courts system.

Required profile

• Proven experience in building forecasting or time‑series models, preferably for public sector or legal environments.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to source, test, and validate factors influencing forecasts.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting complex data to non‑technical audiences.

Required skills

• Azure (fabric environment) for model development and deployment.
• Python for data manipulation and machine‑learning implementation.
• Power BI for dashboard creation and data visualisation.
• SQL for data extraction and transformation.
• Excel for ad‑hoc analysis and reporting.
• Experience with contemporary machine‑learning libraries and time‑series techniques.
