Senior Cyber Security & Risk Specialist

About the role

The Attorney‑General's Department is expanding its centralised cyber security service. This senior specialist will provide strategic advice, lead risk assessments and drive assurance activities to protect critical information, systems and services across the department.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert cyber security advice to stakeholders and senior management.
• Lead risk assessments, threat and vulnerability management, and incident response coordination.
• Develop and maintain policies, standards, procedures and guidelines aligned with the South Australian Cyber Security Framework and ISO 27001/27002.
• Deliver cyber security projects from initiation through implementation and evaluation.
• Prepare reports, briefings and recommendations for governance forums.

Required profile

• Australian citizenship (highly regarded) and ability to obtain Negative Vetting 1 security clearance.
• Demonstrated experience in cyber security, information security, risk management or security assurance roles.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills with the ability to influence technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑making capabilities in a complex environment.

Required skills

• Knowledge of cyber security governance, risk management frameworks and security controls.
• Experience with the South Australian Cyber Security Framework (SACSF) and ISO 27001/27002.
• Ability to conduct security risk assessments and recommend risk treatment.
• Industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, Security+ or equivalent.
