Senior Cyber Security Operations Analyst

About the role

Redland City Council is seeking a Senior Cyber Security Operations Analyst to lead and evolve its cyber security operations capability. You will protect critical community services, drive threat detection, incident response and security assurance across a diverse technology landscape.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate day‑to‑day cyber security operations, monitoring and response activities.
• Investigate security alerts, suspicious activity and cyber threats, providing timely mitigation.
• Lead incident triage, investigations, recovery activities and lessons learned.
• Uplift security posture in line with the Essential Eight and industry best practices.
• Provide expert guidance on cyber risks, vulnerabilities and new technology implementations.
• Conduct security reviews, risk assessments and control assurance across varied environments.
• Manage and enhance security platforms including Microsoft 365 security services, endpoint protection, identity and cloud security.
• Support organisation‑wide cyber awareness, phishing response and capability uplift initiatives.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in cyber security operations within complex enterprise environments.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Microsoft 365 security technologies (Defender, Sentinel, Entra ID, Purview, Azure).
• Proven ability to lead incident response, threat hunting and vulnerability management.
• Knowledge of cyber security frameworks such as ASD Essential Eight, ASD ISM, ISO 27001 and NIST.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
