Senior Consultant - Economics

About the role

EY Parthenon is hiring a Senior Consultant in Economics for a hybrid position based in Canberra (Naarm - Melbourne or Ngambri - Canberra). The role covers economic assessments, appraisals and policy and regulatory advice for clients, and can potentially be adjusted to work flexibly with reduced hours.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver economic assessments and modelling on issues facing businesses and government in Australia and around the world
• Carry out economic appraisals such as cost-benefit analysis and economic impact assessments
• Provide policy, strategic and regulatory advice on energy, resources, trade, tax, human services and the environment
• Liaise with clients to understand their needs and deliver tailored solutions
• Support business growth by developing new services, adopting new technology and analytical capabilities

Required profile

• Degree qualified in a relevant discipline with over 1-3 years of experience
• Proven client-facing experience with strong report writing, communication and presentation skills
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to research issues and advise on policy, program guidelines, market trends and industry practices
• Experience in economic and policy analysis, economic impact studies, econometrics, cost-benefit analysis and regulatory analysis

Required skills

• Economic and policy analysis, econometrics and regulatory analysis
• For candidates with a quantitative focus: developing and applying bespoke economic and/or simulation models using R, Python or AI-assisted coding interfaces
