Senior Civil Designer

About the role

The Senior 12D Roads Designer will lead road alignment design for major urban and rural highways, as well as local road and infrastructure projects, strengthening technical capability within Arup’s highways team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead road alignment design using 12d Model and associated BIM workflows.
• Prepare and oversee high‑quality 3D designs, technical drawings and documentation.
• Manage delivery to ensure outputs meet project timeframes, scope and budget.
• Develop innovative technical solutions and coordinate multidisciplinary inputs while ensuring compliance with Austroads, TMR and Australian Standards.
• Mentor junior designers, review work and contribute to team capability development.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in road alignment design with strong knowledge of Austroads, TMR and Australian Standards.
• Proven ability to lead complex, multidisciplinary projects and engage stakeholders.
• Strong communication and leadership skills, with experience facilitating technical discussions and mentoring.
• Relevant tertiary qualification and commitment to ongoing professional development.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in 12d Model.
• Experience with BIM workflows, CAD, Bluebeam and ProjectWise.
• Technical expertise in road alignment design.
