Senior Civil Design Engineer

About the role

Orion Consulting, a multi-disciplinary land development company with five offices across NSW and Queensland and more than 150 employees, is looking for a Senior Civil Design Engineer in Wagga Wagga. The role suits an experienced professional who can provide technical leadership, deliver high-quality civil engineering projects, mentor junior team members and work closely with clients and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across civil engineering projects and lead their planning, execution and delivery within agreed deadlines, budgets and quality standards.
• Coordinate internal resources, consultants, contractors and stakeholders; define scope, objectives and deliverables and oversee quality control.
• Manage project budgets, forecasting, invoicing and contract variations, and escalate commercial risks to the Riverina Manager.
• Liaise with authorities, service providers and utility agencies to obtain approvals.
• Act as Contract Superintendent, Principal's Representative and Contract Administrator under relevant legislation and standard form contracts.
• Prepare works contracts, tender documentation, quantities, technical reports, drawings and specifications.
• Inspect sites regularly, chair project meetings, issue minutes and manage fortnightly budget and program updates.
• Maintain client relationships, support business development such as proposals, and mentor junior team members.
• Follow the Integrated Management System and implement best-practice processes and tools.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Civil Engineering.
• 5-10 years' relevant experience, preferably with a civil contractor.
• Understanding of construction practices, contract administration and relevant legislation.
• Communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills, and ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and MS Project.
• Working knowledge of 12D, AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
