Senior Category Manager

About the role

A well-established and growing Australian FMCG business with a strong portfolio of consumer brands across grocery and food categories is seeking an experienced Senior Category Manager in Melbourne. The role takes ownership of category strategy and commercial insights across a key portfolio, partnering with Sales, Marketing and major retail customers to turn shopper, market and customer data into actionable strategies that drive growth.

Key responsibilities

• Develop category reviews, ranging and assortment recommendations, promotional analysis, pricing and promotional strategy, market analysis and customer presentations.
• Identify whitespace opportunities and understand shopper behaviour.
• Use data and insights to influence internal stakeholders and external retail partners.
• Work closely with Sales, Marketing and major retail customers to shape category and brand growth.

Required profile

• Commercially minded, highly experienced Category Manager with strong FMCG experience, ideally in a supplier or major retail environment.
• Strong understanding of category management principles, shopper insights, market data, ranging, pricing, promotions and commercial planning.
• Ability to turn complex data into clear, compelling recommendations.
• Confidence engaging with senior stakeholders and major retail customers.
• Curious, commercially astute and proactive, able to influence, challenge and build strong relationships.
