Senior Calypso Developer (Contract) - Sydney

About the role

Hastha Solutions is seeking an experienced Senior Calypso Developer for a 6-month contract in Sydney, with possible extension. The role works on complex trading and post-trade platforms in a financial markets technology environment, designing, developing and supporting Calypso solutions across front-to-back-office processes. It is hands-on and requires deep expertise in Calypso development, Java, APIs and Calypso workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop custom Calypso solutions using Java, Calypso APIs and framework components
• Implement and maintain Calypso workflows, custom actions, rules, scheduled tasks and event processing
• Develop trade workflows, lifecycle events and post-trade processing logic, covering trade capture, confirmations, settlements, risk, valuation and collateral
• Build and support real-time and batch integrations via Calypso APIs (XML, REST, JMS, messaging frameworks) with upstream and downstream systems
• Perform impact analysis for change requests and upgrades, troubleshoot production issues and carry out root cause analysis
• Support BAU activities such as incident resolution, release deployments and enhancements
• Work with Business Analysts and architects, participate in Agile ceremonies and follow coding, security, audit and regulatory standards

Required profile

• Australian or NZ citizen or PR holder only
• Strong hands-on experience with the Calypso Trading & Risk Management platform
• End-to-end trade lifecycle knowledge across Front, Middle and Back Office, covering rates, FX, fixed income, derivatives and repos
• Post-trade knowledge of confirmations, settlements, clearing, margining and reconciliations
• Experience in Agile / Scrum delivery models
• Nice to have: regulatory-driven change support, high-availability trading platforms, DevOps, CI/CD or performance tuning

Required skills

• Expert-level Java development
• Calypso APIs, custom engines, workflows, rules, tasks, events and schedulers
• SQL, Unix/Linux, shell scripting and batch processing
• Messaging frameworks such as JMS and MQ
• Knowledge of Calypso upgrade and migration is a strong plus
