Senior Building Consultant / Technical Lead

About the role

Crawford's CRD division is seeking an experienced Senior Building Consultant to act as Technical Lead for its Brisbane team. You will maintain your own portfolio of residential building assessments while providing technical leadership, mentoring, and quality assurance to other consultants.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct inspections and technical assessments of residential building work on behalf of QBCC and other clients.
• Investigate and assess building defects, incomplete works, non‑compliant construction, structural and waterproofing issues.
• Prepare evidence‑based technical reports, findings, recommendations and detailed Scopes of Work for rectification.
• Validate rectification methodologies, cost estimates and contractor quotations.
• Provide technical advice to support Home Warranty claims, dispute resolution and regulatory decisions.
• Mentor junior Building Consultants and act as senior escalation point for complex matters.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in building consultancy, residential construction, building surveying or related field.
• QBCC Open Builder Licence – Medium Rise or above (mandatory).
• Strong knowledge of the National Construction Code (NCC), Queensland building legislation and Australian Standards.
• Proven ability to assess defects, determine causation and develop practical rectification solutions.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management and analytical skills.
