Senior Audit Lead – Model Risk

About the role

The Senior Audit Lead – Model Risk provides specialist assurance over ANZ’s model risk framework. Reporting to the Audit Director – Credit Risk & Models, the role plans and executes complex audit engagements that evaluate the effectiveness of model governance, oversight, and the end‑to‑end model lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Lead high‑risk Model Risk audit engagements as a subject‑matter specialist, delivering independent third‑line assurance aligned to the Internal Audit plan.
• Apply model risk judgement to assess model inventory, tiering, validation, performance monitoring, outcomes testing, and limitations management.
• Manage audit delivery against timelines and budgets, ensuring disciplined execution and timely escalation of risks.
• Contribute to annual audit planning by providing input on risk themes, regulatory priorities, and emerging issues for the Models portfolio.
• Collaborate with audit teams and business stakeholders to produce high‑quality audit outcomes and support a strong speak‑up culture.

Required profile

• Significant experience in internal audit, preferably within model risk or credit risk domains.
• Deep understanding of model risk governance, lifecycle management, and validation processes.
• Proven ability to lead complex audit projects, manage resources, and meet delivery deadlines.
• Strong analytical and risk‑judgement skills, with the capacity to form evidence‑based conclusions.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with senior stakeholders and audit teams.
