Senior Associate, Private Enterprise Tax Advisory

About the role

Grant Thornton Australia's growing Private Enterprise (Private Tax Advisory) team is looking for a Senior Accountant to join its Sydney office. The role delivers bespoke private tax advice to privately owned businesses, family groups and high-net-worth individuals, working closely with Partners and Directors on commercial tax matters and ongoing compliance obligations.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver tax advice on restructures, Division 7A, CGT, trust taxation, succession and estate planning, international tax and other complex matters under the guidance of senior team members.
• Support tax due diligence for acquisitions of private groups, including reviewing tax risks, structuring considerations and transaction impacts.
• Build and maintain client and stakeholder relationships through proactive, solutions-focused communication.
• Support Partners and Directors with client meetings, proposals and advisory and transaction engagements.
• Coach and mentor junior team members on technical matters and professional development.

Required profile

• Qualification or professional accreditation in Business, Commerce, Accounting, Finance, Law or another relevant discipline, or an overseas equivalent.
• Have commenced (or plan to commence) a CA qualification.
• Demonstrated experience in tax advisory within a chartered accounting or law firm.

• Highly organised, able to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
• Critical thinking and technical reasoning, including testing assumptions and communicating reasoning clearly.
