Senior Accountant

About the role

Dexterous manages and runs internal finance teams for its clients, using off-the-shelf or RPA technologies and a global workforce to deliver a scalable, full-service financial team. The Senior Accountant supports the Service Delivery Manager and the wider team, managing a diverse range of functions and providing expert accounting support to clients.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and review monthly reconciliations, review vendor invoices and expense reports, and oversee the payroll process with compliance with tax regulations.
• Prepare financial reports and analysis for management, and ensure compliance with IAS, BAS, FBT, Payroll Tax, Superannuation and Payment Summary requirements.
• Lead and instruct Junior and Intermediate Accountants, including performance and development, training needs and prioritisation of work.
• Own client responses and outcomes, resolving queries promptly (within 24-48 hours) and escalating issues to the Team Leader or Client Delivery Manager where appropriate.
• Manage process documentation, system updates such as daily timesheets in XPM, and quality assurance; take part in continuous improvement projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
• CA or CPA qualification preferred.
• Proven experience in a similar role, ideally in a fast-paced environment, and experience managing multiple clients.
• Knowledge of Australian accounting practices, bookkeeping, tax, BAS/GST/FBT and financial reporting standards.

Required skills

• Proficiency in accounting software (XERO, QuickBooks).
• Strong financial acumen, analytical and organisational skills, and excellent time management.
• Able to work under pressure and solve problems critically.
