Senior Accountant – 6‑8 week contract

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to provide leave cover for a short‑term contract of approximately 6‑8 weeks. The role is based in Brisbane and will support a small, capable finance team during a busy period, handling budgeting, reporting and transactional processes.

Key responsibilities

• Support the company’s budget process, liaise with stakeholders and maintain budget templates.
• Assist with general budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Perform bank reconciliations for a small entity.
• Prepare and post journals, including fortnightly payroll journals.
• Review and approve weekly payment runs.
• Complete balance sheet reconciliations.
• Assist with levy calculations and provide day‑to‑day financial operations support.
• Contribute to ad‑hoc finance tasks as required.

Required profile

• Strong advanced Excel skills.
• Solid accounting fundamentals with proven experience in a similar senior accountant role.
• Demonstrated experience with budgeting and forecasting processes.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Experience using Xero accounting software.
• Ability to work autonomously in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong communication skills for internal stakeholder liaison.
