Security Officer – Cyber & Information Protection

About the role
The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Security Officer to protect its information and technology assets. You will work across projects, audits and incident response, gaining hands‑on cyber security experience while supporting the state’s critical services.
Key responsibilities
- Provide trusted cyber security advice and practical support to teams.
- Coordinate audits, risk assessments and assurance activities.
- Prepare clear briefs, reports and incident summaries.
- Deliver cyber security training, workshops and awareness sessions.
- Manage timely responses to security incidents and maintain security records.
Required profile
- Relevant IT or cyber security qualifications (desirable).
- Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Baseline security clearance.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
- Excellent communication and relationship‑building abilities.
- Experience planning work, supporting projects and collaborating with others.
Required skills
- Knowledge of cyber security, information security or protective security frameworks.
