Security Engineer – AWS Cloud Response

About the role

Amazon is seeking a Security Engineer to join the Cloud Response team in Australia. The team safeguards AWS cloud services, handling incident response, automation, and security automation at massive scale.

Key responsibilities

• Tri­age incoming security issues, assess risk, and prioritize remediation with service teams.
• Communicate issue status to technical and non‑technical audiences, up to the AWS CISO.
• Design and build automation to reduce manual toil in incident response, including AI‑driven agentic systems.
• Participate in on‑call rotation and support global follow‑the‑sun operations.
• Collaborate with partner security and service teams to promote security best practices.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional programming experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of networking protocols such as HTTP, DNS, and TCP/IP.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, handle context switching, and work under interruption.

Required skills

• Programming languages: Python, Ruby, Go, Swift, Java.Net, C++.
• Experience with AWS products and services.
• Experience building or using AI/LLM‑based agents and automation frameworks.
• Understanding of threat modeling, secure coding, identity management, cryptography, system administration, or network security.
