Security Analyst – Cloud & Incident Response (Melbourne)

About the role

This hands‑on Security Analyst position is with a leading financial services firm in Melbourne’s CBD. You will work across security operations, Azure cloud security, networking and incident response, helping to protect critical assets and improve the organisation’s security posture.

Key responsibilities

• Support day‑to‑day security operations across cloud, network, endpoint, email and broader environments.
• Design, implement and maintain Azure security controls and networking safeguards to increase visibility and resilience.
• Investigate, contain, escalate and remediate real security incidents, not just alerts.
• Collaborate with internal technology teams and external providers to enhance processes, tooling and outcomes.
• Identify security gaps and drive practical improvements across the environment.
• Operate and tune security platforms such as CrowdStrike, Varonis, Palo Alto and Proofpoint (experience beneficial but not mandatory).

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of hands‑on experience in a cyber‑security role (analyst, engineer or operations) within enterprise, consultancy, financial services or banking.
• Strong generalist security background with the ability to work across incidents, tooling, networking and cloud security.
• Practical incident‑response experience handling real incidents end‑to‑end.
• Australian or New Zealand permanent residency or citizenship.
• Reliable, trustworthy and high‑ownership work ethic.

Required skills

• Azure security and cloud‑security fundamentals.
• Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, firewalls, VPNs, etc.).
• Incident response processes and tools.
• Security‑operations tooling (e.g., CrowdStrike, Varonis, Palo Alto Networks, Proofpoint).
