Science Data Administrator

About the role

Do you want to work in an organisation where your input directly impacts the health of our oceans? The Secretariat of the Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR) is seeking a Science Data Administrator to join our team based in Hobart.

Key responsibilities

• Load fisheries and ecosystem monitoring data into relational databases.
• Develop and implement quality‑control checks and maintain database documentation.
• Keep data holdings current and respond to internal and external data requests.
• Prepare annually produced documents such as the Fishery Reports for the Scientific Committee.
• Support Commission and Scientific Committee meetings through logistics and rapporteuring.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in marine biology, ecology, fishery sciences or a related field with at least two years of relevant experience.
• Experience working with relational databases and analysing data using R.
• Sharp attention to detail and ability to compare data across multiple sources.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Genuine passion for Antarctic marine science and commitment to an inclusive workplace.
