Science Community Lead

About the role

The Science Community Lead will shape and grow a global online community of scientists, researchers, and biotech enthusiasts. Based in Australia and working fully remotely, you will create engaging spaces where scientific collaboration, discussion, and discovery thrive across platforms such as Discord.

Key responsibilities

• Build, manage, and expand online science communities, primarily on Discord, including channel architecture, onboarding flows, bots, and engagement systems.
• Host and facilitate community events such as AMAs, journal clubs, voice discussions, and live online sessions.
• Design and execute programming that highlights member research, encourages participation, and fosters interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Identify and connect researchers, emerging voices, and industry experts to promote knowledge exchange.
• Moderate discussions to maintain a welcoming, inclusive, and high‑quality environment.
• Track engagement metrics and experiment with new formats to improve community health.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, or a related scientific field.
• Strong familiarity with online communities, especially Discord, Reddit, and X (Twitter).
• Excellent written communication with an accessible, engaging tone.
• Comfort hosting live events, voice chats, and interactive sessions.
• Proactive, experimental mindset and genuine interest in biotechnology and life sciences.
