School Learning Officer (Casual)

About the role

Catholic Education Cairns is recruiting a School Learning Officer (casual, as required) for St Therese's School in Bentley Park, Queensland. The role works alongside the classroom teacher to help students meet their learning goals, including those with diverse learning needs. The position starts from 20 April 2026 and is paid at SOF Level 3, $42.71 to $44.52 gross per hour (casual rate).

Key responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher in evaluating and assessing students' learning needs.
• Attend meetings with parents, teachers and specialists to discuss student progress and needs.
• Work with students according to the class teacher's directions and lesson plans.
• Provide physical assistance to students where necessary and appropriate.
• Take part in planning days with team teachers and support students with social and emotional needs, such as supervising them during short time-outs.
• Follow classroom rules, expectations, incentive schemes and behaviour management plans.
• Support in-class programmes and group work in Literacy block time, and assist with supervision of students referred to teaching staff.
• Report regularly to the teacher on student progress, keep personal records of student work sessions and maintain confidentiality of student information.
• Take part in daytime school carnivals as directed by an academic staff member.
