School Crossing Supervisor

About the role

Cardinia Shire Council is looking for School Crossing Supervisors to act as a second pair of eyes for motorists and help ensure the safety of children, parents and teachers around schools. Relief positions are available Monday to Friday during school terms, and all uniforms, equipment and training are provided. There are 80 crossings across the Shire, including in Officer, Pakenham, Beaconsfield, Nar Nar Goon, Tynong, Garfield, Bunyip, Koo Wee Rup, Lang Lang, Emerald, Gembrook and Cockatoo.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the safe passage of school children and other pedestrians
• Operate the crossing in line with official guidelines
• Be punctual and reliable, and stay vigilant and alert
• Build a positive relationship with the public and children
• Accurately record details of offending vehicles

Required profile

• Discipline to work in all weather conditions
• Good English communication skills, community spirit and positive energy
• Physically fit
• Own transport and a Victorian driver's licence
• Flexible availability for early starts
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision
• Valid Australian working rights; successful applicants must pass a National Police Check, pre-employment medical and obtain or hold a Working with Children Check

Required skills

• Follow road safety procedures, legislation, laws, guidelines and OH&S processes
• Ability to document details of offending vehicles
