Scaffolder – Shipbuilding Projects

About the role

Austal is seeking a skilled Scaffolder to join its Henderson shipyard. You will play a vital part in constructing, maintaining and dismantling scaffold systems that give trades and production teams safe access to vessel work areas. This hands‑on role supports both defence and commercial shipbuilding projects of national significance.

Key responsibilities

• Erect, modify, inspect and dismantle various types of scaffolding structures.
• Install and secure guardrails and other safety components.
• Load and unload materials and equipment, and maintain tidy work areas.
• Conduct regular scaffold inspections and safety audits.
• Assist with yard maintenance, painting, line marking and walkway preparation.
• Operate forklifts for material handling as required.
• Remove and empty construction waste bins from vessels.

Required profile

• Australian full working rights (HRWL – SB, SI, SA, LF, CB).
• Ability to work safely at heights and in a shipyard environment.
• Physical fitness and capability to handle manual loading tasks.
• Commitment to follow safety procedures and maintain clean workspaces.
