Safety Advisor

About the role

LGM Industries is looking for a Safety Advisor based in greater metropolitan Perth, open to semi-retired, recently retired or casual candidates. The role acts as the link between management and operations across multiple teams and sites, ensuring the client's safety policies and procedures are implemented in line with current legislation. It suits someone passionate about safety and aligned with a culture of looking after people and adopting safe systems of work.

Key responsibilities

• Risk assessments and hazard identification, including developing strategies to mitigate risks
• Ensure procedures are implemented consistently and incorporate best practice
• Train staff on safety protocols, keep training records and help develop training packages
• Investigate accidents and incidents, carry out root cause analysis and report recommendations
• Inspect workplaces and run internal audits to check compliance
• Help develop emergency response plans, organise drills and train staff
• Maintain incident and inspection records and analyse safety performance metrics
• Advise on health and safety matters, follow new regulations and recommend policy updates
• Promote a safety culture through campaigns and initiatives
• Coordinate with other departments, external agencies and regulators, and represent the company in health and safety meetings

Required profile

• Diploma or Cert IV in Work Health and Safety (WHS) (essential)
• Minimum two years' relevant experience, ideally in the structural mechanical and piping (SMP) environment
• Certificate IV in Training and Assessing
• Valid C-class driver's licence (mandatory)
• Construction White Card (mandatory)
• Working at heights and confined space certification within two years
• Valid First Aid and CPR certificate
• HRWL – DG, RB, LF desirable
