Robotics Software Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Robotics Software Engineer to develop production‑grade autonomy and perception systems for maritime vessels. This position sits at the intersection of advanced robotics, artificial intelligence, and real‑world deployment, giving you the opportunity to see your code run on operational ships in harsh, real‑world conditions. You will join a high‑calibre engineering team focused on delivering reliable, field‑tested solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robotics software using C++, Python, and ROS2.
• Create and optimise algorithms for navigation, path planning, guidance, and control.
• Validate algorithms in simulation environments before field deployment.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to integrate software with sensor and actuator systems.
• Perform full‑stack troubleshooting, covering software, algorithms, and hardware integration.
• Maintain code quality, documentation, and version control standards.
• Participate in on‑site testing and deployment on maritime vessels.

Required profile

• Degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
• Australian citizenship and eligibility for Baseline security clearance.
• Proven ability to work in a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary engineering environment.

Required skills

• Strong software engineering proficiency in C++ and Python.
• Experience with ROS2 or comparable robotics middleware.
• Proficiency with Linux/Ubuntu operating systems.
