Risk & Compliance Advisor

About the role

The Risk & Compliance Advisor will support the Consumer Distribution business of Suncorp Bank by strengthening first‑line risk and compliance practices. Working from the Brisbane office, you will help embed robust frameworks, monitor risk indicators and ensure regulatory requirements are met.

Key responsibilities

• Embed and maintain consistent risk and compliance frameworks across Consumer Distribution, fostering a mature risk culture.
• Interpret banking risk and compliance requirements, including policy, legislative, regulatory, audit and Business Continuity Management.
• Produce risk profiles, compliance plans, risk reporting and monitoring, and manage actions to keep risk within tolerable levels.
• Develop and track key risk indicators, loss events and reports, identifying improvement opportunities for the control environment.
• Provide subject‑matter expertise on risk and compliance for initiatives, regulatory changes, incident management and control testing.
• Participate in monthly Consumer Distribution Risk & Compliance Committee meetings and prepare reporting for 2LOD, 3LOD and regulatory reviews.

Required profile

• Proven experience in banking, risk management or compliance advisory roles.
• Strong understanding of the full range of Suncorp Bank products and associated risk exposures.
• Ability to analyse regulatory and legislative changes and translate them into actionable controls.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills to influence across the business.

Required skills

• Knowledge of risk management frameworks and compliance monitoring processes.
• Familiarity with audit, regulatory reporting and Business Continuity Management.
