Residential Youth Coordinator (Out of Home Care)

About the role

MADEC is seeking a Residential Youth Coordinator (Out of Home Care) to join its team in the Mackay region on a 12-month fixed-term contract covering parental leave. The role provides operational leadership across residential services, overseeing and supporting Team Leaders and Residential Youth Workers, and ensuring services comply with legislation, regulatory requirements, standards and MADEC policies.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day operational leadership across residential homes and support service continuity and quality practice.
• Oversight and support of Team Leaders, and guidance and coaching of Residential Youth Workers.
• Promote compliance with legislation, regulations, standards, contracts, policies and Out of Home Care requirements, including safeguarding, incident and risk management, quality assurance and documentation.
• Work with the Department of Families, Seniors, Disability Services and Child Safety on care planning, placements, case coordination and information sharing.
• Help young people build independence, confidence and life skills, and foster a trauma-informed, person-centred approach.
• Contribute to audits, reviews and continuous improvement of service standards.

Required profile

• Diploma or higher in Child or Youth Services (or equivalent), or willingness to undertake.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in residential care; experience supporting young people with complex needs highly regarded.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, support and develop teams.
