Research Officer - Mitochondrial Biology Lab

About the role

The Mitochondrial Biology, Metabolism and Disease Lab at Monash University's Clayton campus is seeking a Research Officer to support research activities through laboratory experiments, data collection and analysis, troubleshooting, research documentation and general laboratory administration. The role reports to the Head of the Lab and contributes to research outcomes while keeping the laboratory safe, compliant and well organised.

Key responsibilities

• Support research projects and conduct literature reviews
• Prepare reports and maintain accurate records
• Contribute to continuous improvement of research procedures
• Collaborate with researchers and students and stay up to date with developments in the field
• Ensure compliance with research protocols, quality standards and safety requirements

Required profile

• A relevant qualification or equivalent experience
• Strong analytical, organisational, communication and data management skills
• Attention to detail and the ability to work independently and collaboratively

Required skills

• Cell culture
• Molecular biology (PCR, vector cloning)
• Protein chemistry (SDS-PAGE, western transfer)
• Experience in proteomics, confocal imaging or flow cytometry is advantageous

What we offer

• Full-time, 12-month appointment with remuneration of $86,344 - $99,179 p.a. (HEW Level 6 plus 17% employer superannuation)
