About the role

The West Australian, WA's leading news brand and part of Seven West Media, is looking for a reporter to join its team. As a reporter you will lead the creation of high-quality, accurate and impactful content that informs, engages and influences readers across multiple platforms, in a fast-paced newsroom.

Key responsibilities

• Drive news coverage and shape editorial direction
• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key sources
• Manage complex story development from concept to publication
• Exercise sound editorial judgement and balance multiple priorities, deadlines and platforms
• Work evenings, weekends and occasionally travel as news demands

Required profile

• Strong writing skills and a sharp news sense
• Detail-oriented and able to work independently but also thrive in a collaborative environment
• Deadline-driven and calm under pressure
• Flexible hours, from evenings to weekends
• Valid Australian work rights
