Remote Accountant

About the role

Aureus Financial is hiring an Accountant to join its Accounting team in a structured, high-performance remote setup. The role owns the preparation and administration layer that keeps compliance work on time, clients informed and Accountants free to focus on advisory work. Each function has a clear boundary, a system and a defined escalation path.

Key responsibilities

• Compliance and admin: prepare ASIC annual reviews and manage follow-up; process SGC statements, STP transactions and TPAR filings; download, organise and file ATO reports accurately and on time.
• Bookkeeping and finance: provide bookkeeping support as directed by the supervising Accountant; run General Ledger reviews and flag discrepancies; assist with BAS drafting and follow-up.
• Billing and client ops: raise invoices accurately within approved budgets; chase accounts receivable and manage overdue follow-up; set up workpapers and collect outstanding client documents.

Required profile

• Preferred: 5 years of prior experience in an accounting, bookkeeping or professional services support role.
• Exposure to Australian compliance obligations including ASIC, STP, SGC, TPAR and BAS.
• Experience in checklist-driven, process-oriented workflows and managing client follow-up and admin tasks accurately.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of Xero, Karbon and XPM, or a demonstrated ability to learn practice management software quickly.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Strong attention to detail and clear written communication with clients and colleagues.
• Discipline to follow established systems and escalate appropriately.
