Reliever Hospital Pharmacist - Slade Pharmacy

About the role

Icon Group is recruiting a full-time Reliever Hospital Pharmacist for its Slade Pharmacy network across South Australia, on a maximum term contract until the end of June 2027. The pharmacist covers planned leave at several sites, including Tennyson Centre in Kurralta Park, Windsor Gardens and Burnside War Memorial Hospital in Toorak Gardens, working in a multidisciplinary environment. The role suits someone currently working for a high-volume chemist retailer who wants to move into hospital pharmacy.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct medication chart reviews and medication reconciliation
• Coordinate patient medication needs for inpatients, day infusions and discharge
• Advise on drug selection and usage, and counsel patients on proper use of medicines
• Check the accuracy of prescriptions dispensed by pharmacy technicians
• Dispense and supply medication and pharmacy products
• Carry out ward collection and delivery rounds
• Liaise with patients, carers, hospital staff and other employees
• Educate staff and customers on health promotion, disease prevention and drug selection
• Take part in quality and research activities within the department

Required profile

• AHPRA-registered pharmacist with previous experience in an Australian-based pharmacy
• Valid Australian driver's licence and a roadworthy vehicle, as travel is involved
• Strong knowledge of the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS)
• Flexible and adaptable to work across multiple sites in metropolitan and regional South Australia
• Attention to detail, able to work autonomously, and ready for lifelong learning
• Hospital experience is not required, as structured training is provided
