Registered Psychiatric Nurse (Pool)

About the role

Bayside Health is recruiting Registered Psychiatric Nurses (Grade 2, Classifications NP11-NP70) for its Nurse Pool, which supplies staff to Alfred, Caulfield and Sandringham Hospitals. The role is available part-time or full-time and involves direct patient care in acute psychiatric and community rehabilitation settings, with flexibility and availability across shifts valued.

Key responsibilities

• Work in the Nurse Pool of The Alfred, providing psychiatric nursing to the Acute In-Patient Psychiatric Unit (Alfred Hospital) and the Residential Rehabilitation Community Care Unit (St Kilda).
• Occasionally provide psychiatric nursing to patients admitted to the medical and surgical wards of The Alfred.
• Deliver direct patient care including risk assessment, mental state assessment and care planning.
• Consult, liaise and negotiate with patients, carers, family members and other professionals.
• Be prepared to work at all Bayside Health (Alfred) sites: Alfred Hospital, Caulfield Hospital and Sandringham Hospital.

Required profile

• Unrestricted registration as a nurse through the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
• Previous extensive experience as a psychiatric nurse in mental health.
• Motivated, enjoys teamwork and communicates well with patients, staff and visitors.
• Strong understanding of patient-centred care.
