Registered Psychiatric Nurse - Mental Health & AOD Hub

About the role

This Registered Psychiatric Nurse position is part of the Mental Health CART Service in the Emergency Department at St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne, located in Fitzroy. It reports to the CART Manager and takes day-to-day direction from the ED Mental Health & AOD Hub Coordinator while maintaining strong links with the ED Mental Health Service. The role offers permanent full-time or part-time employment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide timely intervention to consumers presenting to the emergency department
• Carry out comprehensive face-to-face mental health, mental state and risk assessments
• Plan interventions in the least restrictive environment to deliver high-quality care
• Provide psychosocial assessments and support, including referrals
• Facilitate admissions and nominations to mental health and AOD services, including inpatient and outreach services
• Apply the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022 and other legislation to protect consumer rights and complete accurate documentation
• Deliver culturally and clinically competent, culturally inclusive care

Required profile

• Certificate, diploma or degree in nursing meeting AHPRA registration requirements (Division 1 or 3)
• AHPRA registration
• Minimum of 2 years of post-qualification clinical experience in mental health services
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
