Registered Nurse – Primary Health (Detention Services)

About the role

Join Healthcare Australia’s multidisciplinary team delivering primary health services to individuals in onshore immigration detention facilities. As a Registered Nurse you will provide person‑centred, high‑quality care, supporting the health and wellbeing of detainees through direct clinical work and health promotion.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive health assessments and develop individualized care plans.
• Administer medications, immunisations, and perform blood collection.
• Provide wound management, including dressing changes and monitoring healing.
• Deliver health education and promotion activities tailored to detainee needs.
• Collaborate with doctors, allied health professionals and the Virtual Care Centre to ensure seamless care.

Required profile

• AHPRA‑registered Nurse with unrestricted general registration.
• Minimum five years of clinical nursing experience in an operational (non‑telehealth) setting.
• Strong ability to prioritise tasks, work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent communication, critical‑thinking and decision‑making skills.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances within detention environments.
