Registered Nurse - Palliative Care

About the role

Calvary Home Care in Adelaide is recruiting a Community Registered Nurse for its palliative care team. You will provide complex care to clients with terminal diagnoses, working independently overnight to support clients and their stakeholders. The nurse delivers patient education, symptom management and end-of-life care in the comfort of a client's home or residential accommodation.

Key responsibilities

• Provide support and education for clients with terminal diagnoses, and for families and carers
• Administer and prepare subcutaneous medications and CSCI for symptom management
• Deliver general nursing care including simple and complex wound care, IDC/SPC care and PICC dressings
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in client records
• Communicate with the clinical team, community palliative care teams and referrers
• Complete initial assessments, develop and monitor care plans, and escalate clinical deterioration appropriately
• Promote best practice and initiate quality improvement activities

Required profile

• Current AHPRA registration as a nurse
• Minimum 2 years of palliative care nursing experience; community experience desirable
• Postgraduate qualification in palliative care (or working towards it)
• NDIS clearance (or willingness to obtain one) and police clearance within 6 months (or willingness to obtain one)
• Own car with a KM allowance, full driver's licence and a reliable, fully insured vehicle
• CPR and manual handling
