Registered Nurse - After-Hours Shift

About the role

The After-Hours Nurse Manager is a key member of the HammondCare management team, providing operational management, clinical leadership and supervision after hours (evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays). The role supports and assumes after-hours responsibilities so that patient care and staff management continue effectively, and implements business continuity plans in emergencies.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure smooth operational management of the hospital network (Braeside, Greenwich, Neringah and Community Palliative Care teams across SWS and Northern Sydney LHDs).
• Assist with community palliative care calls from relevant LHDs.
• Monitor and adjust staffing levels according to patient occupancy and acuity.
• Support clinical staff in planning, delivering and evaluating care, and build strong staff relationships.
• Ensure inpatient care is safe, well managed and of the highest quality.
• Participate in and initiate quality improvement projects.
• Implement disaster plans, including fire and fire evacuation plans, when required.

Required profile

• Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
• Relevant post-registration experience including palliative care, rehabilitation and/or specialist mental health.
• Tertiary qualification in management or significant management-level experience.
• Experience managing a team of skilled professionals in a multi-site and remote capacity.
• Experience with culturally and linguistically diverse people and bilingual skills.
