Recoveries Officer

About the role

Gallagher Bassett is looking for a Recoveries Officer in Adelaide, South Australia. The role manages a portfolio of worker, employer and provider scheme or contract debt recovery cases, and also handles third-party wrongdoer cases. It acts as a technical reference point for Recovery Officers and claims operations staff.

Key responsibilities

• Work with internal stakeholders to identify potential third-party wrongdoer recoveries and minimise overpayments to injured workers, employers or providers
• Maintain close communication and give specialist technical assistance to internal and external stakeholders to reduce overpayments
• Liaise with internal parties to obtain information needed for recovery cases
• Investigate potential recoveries, document outcomes and start recoveries within agreed timeframes
• Notify stakeholders when unauthorised overpayments occur
• Meet performance targets while complying with relevant Acts, RTWSA Claims Operational Guidelines, and company policies and controls

Required profile

• Proven experience in workers compensation or personal claims management
• Experience managing recovery cases
• Experience working within a public liability framework

Required skills

• Strong understanding of workers compensation legislation on injuries, payments and recovery
• Knowledge of recovery and debt collection legislation
• Familiarity with the Motor Vehicle Act 1959, Road Traffic Act 1961, Civil Liability Act 1936, Return to Work Act 2014 and Workers Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1986
